What We Believe

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth and the life: no one can come to the father except through me." - John 14:6

The following are the core beliefs of Peyton Community Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible.  All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in the Word of God.

Core Beliefs

faith

We believe faith is the beginning of an individual's walk with God.

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
Romans 10:17 NKJV

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV

"Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, written Word of God.

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,  and is profitable for doctrine,  for reproof,  for correction,  for instruction in righteousness"
2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV

God

We believe in one eternal God who exists and has three distinct persons: God the Father,  God the Son,  and God the Holy Spirit.  He is the creator of all that exists,  both visible and invisible,  and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love,  power,  holiness,  goodness, knowledge,  wisdom,  justice,  and mercy.  He is unchangeable.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
Genesis 1:1 NKJV

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday,  today,  and forever."
Hebrews 13:8 NKJV

"I am the Alpha and the Omega,  the Beginning and the End,"  says the Lord.  "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
Revelation 1:8 NKJV

jesus christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God,  was born of a virgin,  and lived a sinless life.  Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God.  Jesus is both fully God and fully human.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,  and we beheld His glory,  the  glory as of the only begotten of the Father,  full of grace and truth."
John 1:14 NKJV

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God.   He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.  God raised him from the dead on the third day.  Salvation can be found in Jesus Christ alone.  We must believe Jesus died on the cross to save us for our sins, and that He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.  We must also repent of our sins, and receive Him as Personal Lord and Savior in order to receive eternal life.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,  that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world,  but that the world through Him might be saved."
John 3:16-17 NKJV

holy spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the Third person of the Godhead (Trinity).   He is the Helper and the Giver of Gifts.  He produces the fruit of the Spirit in believers.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,  baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and  of the Holy Spirit."
Matthew 28:19 NKJV

"And I will pray the Father,  and He will give you another Helper,  that He may abide with you forever.   But the Helper,  the Holy Spirit,  whom the Father will send in My name,  He will teach you all things,  and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
John 14:16,26 NKJV

"Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us,  let us use them: if prophesy,  let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;  or ministry, let us use it in our ministering;  he who teaches,  in teaching; he who exhorts,  in exhortation;  he who gives,   with liberality;  he who leads,  with diligence;  he who shows mercy,  with cheerfulness."
Romans 12:6-8 NKJV

"for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit,  to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,  to another faith by the same Spirit,  to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,  to another the working of miracles,  to another prophesy,  to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues,  to another the interpretation of tongues.   But one and the same Spirit works all these things,  distributing to each one individually as He wills."
1 Corinthians 12:8-11 NKJV

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love,  joy,  peace,  long suffering,  kindness, goodness,  faithfulness,  gentleness,  self control.
Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV

healing

We believe supernatural divine healing can be received from God because the Lord promises it in His Word.   Jesus died on the cross not only to atone for sins, but also to heal  infirmities.

"Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,"
Psalm 103:3 NKJV

"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,  And by His stripes we are healed."
Isaiah 53:5

"who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness -  by whose stripes you were healed."
1 Peter 2:24 NKJV
